Advanced Post – An advanced post in OW is used when you want to customize each field of content specific to a service provider.  See Advanced Post page.

Affiliate Program – The OW Affiliate Program uses affiliates to promote OW by offering commissions as a reward for referring a paid user.  OW pays up to 20% commissions for the life of the customer.  See Onlywire Affiliate program.

Analytics – Analytics is an analysis of data and reporting metrics for users of OW.  OW’s Analytics Report: traffic sources of the service providers, new vs. returning site visitors, top submissions of your site’s content and a dashboard overview of your site’s visits.  Read more about  OW Analytics here.

Automation Tools – The OW Automation Tools are used to auto-submit your site’s content to your OW account in order to avoid having to login to OW to submit content.

Basic Post – A basic post in OW is when you send the same title, web page url, notes, status, tags and category to the services OW supports.  To customize the content of each field to  service providers switch to the Advanced Post page.  See Basic Post page.

Blog – A blend of the term web log, is a type or part of a website that is updated with new content from time to time.  Blogs are used to regularly update a site’s followers and visitors and are displayed in reverse chronological order.  OW provides blogger’s automation tools to link their blog’s content to the social sites or services OW supports.  See the OW Blog.

Bookmark & Share Button – The OW Bookmark & Share Button is a fully customizable share button for your website or blog.  The button gives your site’s visitors the ability to bookmark and share the content of your site to all of their social networking sites simultaneously.   To download or to learn more about the Bookmark & Share Button click here.

Bookmarklet – The OW Bookmarket is for submitting a web page, status or email to Onlywire.  The Bookmarklet resides in the user’s browser in the “bookmark” or “favorite” bar.  The OW Bookmarklet is supported by Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera.  See more about the OW Bookmarklet

Captcha – Captcha is a type of challenge-response test used in computing to ensure that the response is generated by a person.  A little over 20% of the OW Services require Captcha input to finalize a submission or post to the service provider.

Captcha Solver – Captcha Solver is a critical service provided by the OW Team.  When Captcha input is required by a service provider the OW Team fills in the captcha for you.  Captcha Solver is an additional monthly fee for our base plans and included in Enterprise.

Content Provider – A content provider is a company that creates and provides content on behalf of a client website or blog.  Writing blog posts, status updates, and site articles on behalf of a client site is a good example of a content provider.

Finalization – the term Finalization in OW refers to when a post requires Captcha input to submit or to finalize the post.

Link Building – Links or Backlinks are incoming links to a website or page.  A backlink is any link received by a web site from another website.  The significance of links in SEO is the higher number of relevant and reputable links, the higher the page rank.  Relevant and reputable links come from sites that are relevant to your site and from reputable sources (like Facebook, Twitter, etc.).  The fastest way to build backlinks is through social media tools like OW.  Also known as: incoming links, inbound links, inlinks and inward links.

Overage – Any post over an OW user’s plan limit is considered an overage.  For example, if you are on a 5,000/mo. plan post 5,001+ are considered an overage.  Overages are charged $.05 per. submission. You may turn off “overages” under My Account : “Allow Submission Overage Charges?”

OW – OW are the initials for Onlywire.

Post – A post or submission is a piece of content.  The most common posts in OW are: articles, blog posts, videos, and status updates.

Rank – Rank or page rank is a link analysis named after Larry Page of Google with the purpose of “measuring” the relevance of a search term.  Page Ranks are important to both search terms and websites.  For example, the higher the ranking, the higher the search result in an internet search engine like Google.

RSS – An RSS ( Really Simple Syndication) feed is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. The OW RSS feed can be set up to auto-submit content to your OW account.

SEO – Search Engine Optimization, is the process of improving or “optimizing” a site’s ranking in search engines.  The more optimized a site is, the easier it is to find that site when doing a keyword search on a search engine.

Services – OW refers to all the Social Media sites it supports as our “services”.  OW supports 50+ services such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.  See a list of OW’s services here.

Social Bookmarking – A method for internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online.

Social Media -The use of websites to turn communication into an interactive dialogue allowing the creation and exchange of communication between individuals.

Submission – A submission is a post of content to any of the social media sites (services) that Onlywire supports.  1 submission = 1 post.

Submitter – The OW Submitter is a proprietary tool built by OW to submit your content to the many Services OW supports.  This is a Java based tool that all OW users need to download to their computer to complete their submissions.  It is both platform and browser independent and can be downloaded as many computers as the user chooses.  Download OW Submitter here.

Tags – Tags (or keywords) are used in an OW Submission or Post as an index term assigned to the post.  Tags are carefully selected keywords that social sites use to categorize and search content.  For example: If your post is about “Pets” you would use the tag: “Pets” to identify your post as an article or content related to pets.  Read more about the OW Tag Builder here.
