How Do I Use The Post Page?
Purpose:
The Post page is used to manually submit a website or status to a social bookmarking service. We have a Basic and Advanced page to meet your submission needs.
Use:
The Basic Post page allows you to enter in the information to make a submission or status update.
Title: Enter the title of your submission.
URL: Enter the full web address of your submission.
OnlyWire URL Shortener: Choose if you want to shorten your URL.
Notes: Enter the description of your submission.
Status: Enter your status update.
Tags: Enter the keywords to help people find your submission.
My Tags: Select from previous tags you have used.
Services to Post: Select what services you would like to submit to.
Category: Select what category you would like your submission listed under.
Post: Select when you want your submission to be sent to the social bookmarking services.
Post allows you to schedule when your submission is going to be made. You can leave it at the default of Now or just click on the drop down box next to Post and choose Later. Click on the calendar icon that appears and a calendar will open to allow you to choose the date and time for your submission.
When you have filled in the information for your submission or status update click the Post button. Your submission or status update will be sent to the OnlyWire submitter application for processing. Click the OK button in the success popup to continue.
Status is a feature that allows you to post your current status
to sites like Facebook and Netvibes. Status is not a bookmark, but
just words like “I am at work” and “I am on vacation”. Not all services
allow status updates. You can see what services allow status updates
when you go to the Advanced view of the Post page. When making a status
update only fill in the status box. When making a bookmark submission
do not fill in the status box.
The following services only allow Status updates:
LiveJournal, Netvibes, Scribd, and TypePad. If you try to make a bookmark submission to these services, it will not be sent and will not show up in your history.
If you use our shortener, we will post a URL that looks like this: http://onlywire.com/r/XYZ (the XYZ
portion is unique to your submission). This will send a “301
redirect” to users and will route them instantly to your URL. This is a
very useful tool if your URL is too long and won’t fit the 140
character limits that services like Twitter impose. The only downside
to a shortener could be lower backlinks (if that’s your goal). Please
enable the shortener if you are submitting a shortened url from a
service like bit.ly. All Twitter submissions are shortened even when
this option is not selected.
Advanced Post Page:
The Advanced Post page allows you to customize the information that is sent to each social bookmarking service. When you type into any of the information boxes provided the information is sent to that same box for all services. If you click on another box and then back again, information is no longer copied to all services. You can then enter unique information for each service.
Enterprise Edition Administrator Features:
You will be able to post to the social bookmarking services for each of your Enterprise Users. To do this click the Switch User drop down and select the user you would like to work with.
